Milwaukee Police Department
Captain of Police Erwin Estacio initially began his law enforcement career with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office and was subsequently appointed to the Milwaukee Police Department in 1999. Upon completing the recruit curriculum at the academy, Captain Estacio was assigned to Police District Five and had the opportunity to provide police service and address quality of life issues. In 2006, Captain Estacio was assigned to the Sensitive Crimes Division and conducted case management investigations related to sexual assaults, child abuse and missing person complaints.
In 2010, Captain Estacio was promoted to Police Sergeant and was initially assigned to the Patrol Division at Police District Two, Three and Four, where he had the opportunity to manage officers, scenes and conduct administrative duties. Captain Estacio was subsequently assigned to Internal Affairs, Sensitive Crimes and Homicide Divisions where he supervised and managed Detectives, Police Officers and civilian personnel.
In 2022, Captain Estacio was promoted to Police Lieutenant and initially remained assigned to the Homicide Division and represented the Milwaukee Police Department as the Lead Coordinator for the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team (MAIT). Captain Estacio subsequently returned to the Internal Affairs Division in 2023, where he had the opportunity to review, prepare and present internal investigations for disciplinary reviews.
In 2025, Captain Estacio, was promoted to Captain of Police and assigned as the Night Watch Commander.
Captain Estacio graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Additionally, Captain Estacio has completed training with the Wisconsin Association of Homicide Investigators, Communication Strategies for Supervisors, Risk Management Training for Supervisors, Leadership in Police Organizations and Ethics and Integrity Leadership Training.
