This project consists of improving the lighting facilities at 68 intersections identified on the Pedestrian High Injury Network (see Project Location Maps). The locations were considered for their increased pedestrian safety benefit through improved lighting facilities that provide better visibility of pedestrians in the roadway as well as illuminate dark areas under bridges. The improved lighting facilities are also capable of withstanding the harsh Wisconsin weather environment, making them a long lasting and cost beneficial solution to improving pedestrian safety.

The existing incandescent light bulbs will be replaced with LED light bulbs with high lumens output shown below, or similar. For the arm bracket, we do not anticipate any replacement unless it is defective, in that case it will be replaced in kind. No street lighting/traffic signal poles are being replaced as part of this project.
