Outreach & Training Section
The Department of Neighborhood Services collaborates with community groups, non-profits, Business Improvement Districts, and various city departments to resolve complex issues affecting neighborhoods and build capacity in the community. Outreach staff work to education the public by speaking with cummunity members, landlord groups, and neighborhood meetings. Through programs like Artistic Board-Up and Landlord Training, DNS works proactively with residents to improve neighborhoods.
Anti-Graffiti
The Anti-Graffiti Program promotes safer, cleaner communities by reducing and preventing graffiti vandalism.
Artistic Board Up
A DNS initiative designed to reduce the blight associated with vacant buildings in the City of Milwaukee.
Compliance Loan Program
The DNS Compliance Loan Program is geared to helping people with code violations on their homes with low cost repair loans. Income limits and qualifications may apply.
Code Enforcement Internship Program

Landlord Training
Learn effective, professional property management practices. The classes are FREE, and held on a regular basis throughout the year at various locations. Attendees get a free 45-page comprehensive manual and handouts on a variety of legal and business issues related to managing property.
Neighborhood Improvement Program
Neighborhood Improvement Project (NIP) assists eligible owner occupants in repairing their homes.
Rent for Success Program
Rent for Success is a free tenant training program designed to educate and empower renters to make safe, healthy choices in their housing, and to provide helpful resources if anything does go wrong with an arrangement.
