DCD buildingThe mission of the Department of City Development (DCD) is to improve the quality of life in Milwaukee by guiding and promoting development that creates jobs, builds wealth and strengthens the urban environment, and at the same time respects equity, economy and ecology.
To fulfill this mission we:

Commissioner

DCD Commissioner Lafayette L. CrumpLafayette L. Crump, JD,  is the City of Milwaukee Commissioner of City Development.Born and raised in Milwaukee, Lafayette most recently served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief Diversity, Vendor and Engagement Officer for the Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee of the Democratic National Convention, where he ensured community involvement, the inclusion of local and diverse businesses, and corporate adherence to ethical, environmental, and employment and accessibility practices.

Lafayette was also Chief Operating Officer of Prism Technical Management & Marketing Services, LLC, a multidisciplinary management consulting firm based in Milwaukee, WI, with an office in St. Louis, MO, and experience across the United States.  More
