Milwaukee Police Department
Captain Michele D. Haywood has been a member of the Milwaukee Police Department since December of 1995. After joining the Milwaukee Police Department in 1995, she was assigned to District Seven as an officer and was promoted to sergeant in March of 2001. As a sergeant, she was assigned to Districts Two, Four, Six, the Motorcycle Unit and the Internal Affairs Division. She was promoted to lieutenant in December of 2009 and assigned to Districts Three, Four, Five, the Sensitive Crimes Division, the Office of Community Outreach and Education and the Technical Communications Division. She remained at the Technical Communications Division until her promotion to captain in September of 2020.
As the Captain of the Technical Communication Division, Captain Haywood manages the day-to-day and strategic direction of the Milwaukee Police Department Technical Communications Division, which handles both emergency and non-emergency calls for service, thus playing a mission-critical role in supporting the overall policing strategy and operational deployments of the Milwaukee Police Department.
Captain Haywood is a life-long Milwaukee resident. Captain Haywood is a certified Wisconsin Law Enforcement instructor and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Law Studies and Master of Business Administration. Captain Haywood is a graduate of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Police (LPO), Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Supervision of Police Personnel, and the FBI National Academy, Quantico, VA, Session #278.
