This project will restore a vacant lot in the 30th Street Industrial Corridor to productive use for residents of Milwaukee’s Century City Triangle Neighborhood by expanding an adjacent park, mitigating minor environmental contamination, and incorporating stormwater management best practices. A community-engaged conceptual planning process has identified a significant interest in improved recreational facilities, minimizing impervious surfaces, restoring wildlife and pollinator habitat, community gardening, protecting local waterways from contaminated stormwater runoff, and providing opportunities for community gatherings, educational experiences, and nature-based play. This project was initiated and is supported by Alderman Khalif Rainey of the 7th District.
