Housing Affordability Report

Background

In 2018, the Wisconsin Legislature passed Act 243. This law required cities and villages in Wisconsin to prepare a Housing Affordability Report by January 1, 2020.  The City of Milwaukee’s Department of City Development (DCD) released its first Housing Affordability Report in December 2019.

Wisconsin Statute §66.10013 sets the requirements for the Housing Affordability Report. This statute also requires cities to update the report each year by January 31.

The City of Milwaukee chose to include additional housing and demographic information in its Housing Affordability Reports beyond what state law requires. This additional data and analysis are updated as needed and are not updated every year.
