Congratulations New Homeowner!
This week, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett congratulated Liborio Perez Chavez Jr., the most recent buyer of city-owned home, on his purchase of a new home for his family on W. St. Paul Ave. Through the Mayor’s Strong Neighborhoods Plan, buyers have additional support and resources to make homeownership possible and Mr. Chavez was able to take advantage of a number of those resources to make homeownership a reality.
Mr. Perez Chavez received home buying counseling from Housing Resources Inc., a $20,000 forgivable loan through the City’s Homebuyer Assistance Program to finance repairs to his home, and a mortgage and additional grant from North Shore Bank.

 The Mayor’s STRONG Neighborhoods Plan booth will be on North Ave. on August 2 from 10am-6pm to showcase city-owned properties for sale and to also feature programs available from our partners at NIDC – specifically the Homebuyer Assistance Program, which offers $20,000 forgivable loans to rehab city-owned homes. Celebrating Bronzeville Week - August 2-9, 2014
The Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District is a City of Milwaukee redevelopment initiative inspired by Milwaukee’s original Bronzeville of the early to mid-1900’s. To spark and bring life to some of Bronzeville’s rich past and bright future, we would like to invite you to take part in a series of events throughout the district during Bronzeville Week.

The City of Milwaukee is pleased to offer the Bronzeville New Homes Initiative to promote homeownership and new construction in the greater Bronzeville area – from N. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. to I-43/North 7th St. between W. Garfield Ave. and W. Center St. This new housing will be a perfect complement to the Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District activities along the North Ave. corridor.

The City has a select number of lots to be sold for $1.00 to buyers who agree to build traditional-style homes and occupy for 5 years. All construction must conform to the Bronzeville Traditional House Design Standards so as to complement and strengthen the existing fabric of the neighborhood.
The City also provides buyers with a five-year forgivable second mortgage loan of $10,000 as part of this initiative.
