About Arlington Heights Park
This park, located in the Silver City Neighborhood, once part of Milwaukee’s manufacturing heart and named for the silver that factory workers spent in the shops along National Avenue, is emerging as a hub for environmental education, conservation, and recreation. With the Urban Ecology Center, Escuela Verde, and the Bike Federation all making this area home, and with the development of the Hank Aaron State Trail just steps away, the Silver City of today blends an urban-industrial past with this emerging eco-friendly identity. An ethnically-diverse population of Latino, Asian, African-American, and European heritage adds to the vibrance of this community.
Established in the early 1950’s and renamed in 2000, Arlington Heights Park is a local gem tucked underneath the 35th Street Bridge. Since 2010, Layton Boulevard West Neighbors (LBWN), the MKE Plays community partner for this park, has led community efforts to improve the park, including visioning sessions, bandshell construction, and summer programming.
