Details:The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) invites you to attend a public involvement meeting to review rehabilitation plans for the 16th Street Viaduct, specifically for Unit 14 over the Menomonee River. The rehabilitation project is for the 384-foot-long Unit 14 over the Menomonee River. It is proposed to permanently fix the two movable leaves of the bascule span in the “Down” position. The project includes acquisition of right-of-way interests, and a full closure of the bridge between Clybourn Avenue and the Viaduct Approach (ramp bridge). The portion of the viaduct south of the Viaduct Approach (ramp bridge) will remain open to traffic during construction. Construction for the 16th Street Viaduct project is scheduled to begin in Spring 2025 and work is anticipated to be completed by December 2026. Please join representatives from the City of Milwaukee and the design team to learn more about the project and share your thoughts and comments. For more information about the project, please visit milwaukee.gov/dpw/16thStreetBridge after December 14. You may submit your comments directly on the project website and can sign up to receive project updates.
