The Westin Milwaukee is a 9-story hotel located just steps from the waterfront in the heart of downtown. The brand new building opened in June 2017 and offers professional meeting spaces, an Italian-inspired restaurant with bar, a fitness studio, pet-friendly perks, and 220 rooms accommodating up to 400 guests - not to mention extensive event spaces.
The Westin Milwaukee was the first new construction PACE project in the country and is managed by White Lodging. Consistent with The Westin reputation as one of Marriott’s greenest brands, The Westin Milwaukee was designed with nature in mind. The interior features colors derived from nature, an abundance of natural light, and even a living green wall in the lobby. The solely locally-sourced selection of Wisconsin beer in the restaurant bar and on-site laundry are additional ways that the hotel is able to cut back on their carbon emissions in pursuit of sustainability.
Being green is just good business sense - not only are guests generally interested in sustainability, but financially it has benefited us through the use of PACE funding and by cutting energy and operational costs.

Having just opened in the summer of 2017, it will take some time for The Westin Milwaukee to stabilize their energy usage and to establish an energy baseline. The building management team currently manages the building data using excel spreadsheets and physical walk-throughs, but they look forward to working with the Better Buildings Challenge to set up an ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® account to assist with data tracking very soon.

Why Participate?
The Westin works hard to incorporate wellness and deliver quality within their buildings. They took the Better Buildings Challenge pledge in order to utilize PACE financing and to demonstrate environmental and financial responsibility.
