Redistricting Brings 9th District Changes
According to Alderman Puente, the redistricting process completed last year by the Common Council has brought new 2012 voting wards, polling locations, and district boundaries for aldermanic districts, including the 9th District (although ward numbers have changed, the Election Commission will only notify you if your polling location or Aldermanic District has changed).
Effective in April 2012:
• The area of the 9th District that was south of W. Silver Spring Dr. is now in the 1st and 2nd Aldermanic Districts (the area east of N. 55th St. is now in the 1st District, and the area to the west is now in the 2nd District).
• The eastern boundary of the district is now N. 43rd St., and the area bounded by N. 43rd St., W. Mill Rd., N. 51st St. and W. Good Hope Rd. has moved from the 1st
District to the 9th District.
• All voting wards within the district have been renumbered, and several have had their boundaries altered.

The task force was created after last summer’s devastating flooding and basement backups resulted in millions of dollars in property damage and eventual disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The task force was charged with recommending remedies for storm water and sewage backup flooding of city residential and commercial properties, and flooding of streets and alleyways.
