Veterans Drive 2014

Mayor Tom Barrett and County Executive Chris Abele kicked off the 8th Annual Holiday Drive at Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative that will once again benefit returning soldiers. This year’s goal to collect basic household items, from cookware to personal hygiene products to create 250 packaged home starter kits to support veterans and their families.

Sept. 23, 2014 - Mayor Tom Barrett delivered his 2015 Executive Budget to the city's Common Council. This year's budget showed a continued commitment to public safety, neighborhood and job development, libraries and core infrastructure projects.

Transform Milwaukee Jobs Program

In partnership with the United Migrant Opportunity Service (UMOS) agency and the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board (MAWIB), the City will be placing up to 75 transitional program participants in Department of Public Works laborer assignments in August for a period not to exceed 1,040 hours.

Milwaukee now has a safe and anonymous way to report suspected illegal weapons in the city. Residents can call: 335-GUNS (335-4867).

335-GUNS is Milwaukee’s CONFIDENTIAL gun hotline. Callers provide details and information that will help get guns off of our streets.

Each call could represent one or many lives that may be saved from accidental or intentional shootings.
