License E-Payment

License fees can be paid online with MasterCard or VISA. The refund policy for payments can be found at the Refund Policy link.

The City Clerk License Division administers and processes license and permit applications and license fees on behalf of the Common Council and City Clerk. For information relating to specific license and permit types, go to Licenses and Permits

So You've Got A Problem Tavern

Places that serve alcohol are a part of the fabric of Milwaukee. From corner bars to crowded beer halls and nightclubs, this is, after all, a town that's been called "Brew City." Most of these places – officially called "alcohol beverage establishments" – are well run, orderly, and safe. Sign Up to Get Emails on License Applications

Residents can now sign up to receive electronic notifications whenever a license application is made within a designated distance from a registered address. By registering a valid email address and password at the City's "E-Notify" link, users will be notified via email one day after any application within the designated distance is submitted. Fingerprinting Requirements

The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) is required to conduct an investigation of the criminal history of applicants for certain new and renewal licenses and permits.  All applicants whose fingerprints are not already on file with the Milwaukee Police Department must report to the Police Administration Building at the following address and times in order to be fingerprinted:

Monday - Friday (excluding holidays)
8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Applicants previously fingerprinted by the MPD can contact the MPD at (414) 935-7281 to determine whether their fingerprints are still on file.
