Northeast Side Area Plan

July 2015 - Downer Avenue:  Click here to download the Downer Avenue Commercial Corridor Snapshot.

The Downer Avenue Commercial Corridor Snapshot provides a summary of the current "state of affairs" in the district.  This includes providing an inventory of current businesses, a review of zoning and other regulatory issues impacting development along the street, a review of lease rates on Downer and in comparable areas, and summarizing recent public and private investment on Downer Avenue.

The Downer Avenue Commercial Corridor Snapshot can serve as a tool to be used by residents and business owners, both current and future, to provide a streamlined profile of the district, a summary of City resources available to support investment in this commercial corridor, and a reference point laying out the goals of the community for the future of Downer Avenue.

Riverworks Strategic Action Plan

Over the past year, the Department of City Development and its long range planning team have been working with the Riverworks Development Corporation (RDC), Riverworks Business Improvement Districts 25 & 36, and many key stakeholders on a strategic action plan for the Riverworks Center district. The plan is now in Final Draft stage. Please share your comments on the plan in whole or in part. Thanks for taking the time to give us your ideas, thoughts, reactions.

The plan outlines goals, initiatives and action steps aimed at building on Riverworks' strengths, addressing challenges, and advancing the district. Additional input was sought from the UWM Center for Economic Development and UWM School of Architecture and Urban Planning. Those reports are linked below as Appendices to the Strategic Action Plan.
