The Private Sector Job Connection provides work opportunities in the private sector for older youth, usually at least 18 years-old, who have had previous work experience in Earn & Learn or in another program. Employers submit job orders that outline the essential duties, qualifications and work requirements for each position they wish to fill. Students are screened to ensure they meet the qualifications specified by employers.

Special Event Permits

Permits for special events in the public right-of-way are issued by the Department of Public Works Special Event Permit Office. The permit system ensures public safety by coordinating street closures with the Milwaukee Police Department, DPW's Traffic Division, and Milwaukee County Transit System. The office also provides permits for hanging vertical banners on city light poles, cross-street banners and holiday decorations and reviews vending box permits issued by the City Clerk License Division.

Milwaukee was among the first cities in the United States to provide wireless Internet access in public spaces. Pere Marquette Park and Cathedral Square Park have been "freespots," or wireless access points for public use, since June 2003. Milwaukee Public Library also provides Internet service around all its libraries throughout the city.
