Christmas Tree Disposal

Christmas Tree collection will run from December 26, 2024, until January 31, 2025. To be collected, please submit a request at Milwaukee.gov/ClickForAction, use the MKE Mobile Action app, or call (414) 286-CITY.

This service is for residents currently receiving DPW curbside waste and recycling services. To be collected, cut trees must be free of all decorations and must not be bagged. Cut trees sprayed with fake snow cannot be composted. Collection of trees is separate from regular weekly garbage service. Requests for Christmas tree pick up will be routed for collection by designated crews. Collected trees will be shred and composted. Please be patient as delays may be possible. Also, understand that snow and ice control can impact collection operations and add to any delays in service. We also encourage citizens to utilize our Drop Off Centers during the sites' regular open hours. They are a convenient way for residents to quickly dispose of trees that they may not want placed in front of their property. All trees received at the Drop Off Centers will also be composted.

Wreaths are typically held together with wire and plastic backings and cannot be composted. Please place them in garbage carts. Wreaths free of all decorations, wire, and plastic can be placed at the collection point to be composted.

Artificial Christmas trees can be placed at the garbage collection point. Do not place them in garbage carts.
