Milwaukee Police Department
Captain Jeffrey A. Sunn was appointed to the Milwaukee Police Department in 1997 and served as a patrol officer in the Seventh District until his transfer to the Motorcycle Unit in 2002. In 2005, he was promoted to sergeant and served at Districts 1, 5, the Motorcycle Unit, and the Police Academy. In 2018, he was promoted to lieutenant and served at Districts 5 and 7 on the early shifts. Captain Sunn was promoted to Captain in September 2020 and took over command of the Seventh District. In April of 2021, Captain Sunn was assigned as the commander for the Speciliazed Patrol Division. Captain Sunn is a life-long Milwaukee resident and is one of six family members that have served or are currently serving in the Milwaukee Police Department. Captain Sunn attended Milwaukee Vincent H.S. Captain Sunn holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he received an athletic scholarship for swimming.
Captain Sunn is a graduate of both the Northwestern University Supervision of Police Personnel and the IACP Leadership in Police Organizations. Captain Sunn is a certified Wisconsin Law Enforcement instructor specializing in constitutional law, traffic and impaired driving.
