Milwaukee Police Department
Captain James Campbell began his career with the Milwaukee Police Department in 2000, and started patrol duties in District Three. He was transferred to the Intelligence Gang Crimes Unit in 2004 and promoted to the rank of Detective in 2007. Captain Campbell worked Violent Crimes and Robbery cases initially, and then was deputized through the ATF to work on gun related crimes. In 2016, Captain Campbell was assigned to the Homicide Unit and as a Crisis Negotiator on the Crisis Negotiation Unit. In 2018, Captain Campbell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and assigned to the Homicide Unit. Captain Campbell was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2019, and is currently assigned to District One, where he is committed to building new and strengthening old relationships within the community.
Captain Campbell was born in Milwaukee and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Captain Campbell is a graduate of the Leadership in Police Organization program as well as the FBI Crisis Negotiation program. Captain Campbell was awarded the Chief's Leadership Award, and multiple Unit Service Awards.
