Milwaukee Police Department
Captain Herb Glidewell began his career with the Milwaukee Police Department in 1997 after serving 5 years in the United States Marine Corps. Upon graduation from the Milwaukee Police Academy, he was assigned to District 7 as a patrol officer.
In 2001, Captain Glidewell was promoted to detective and assigned to the Vice Control Division and eventually the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) where he conducted state and federal drug investigations with the DEA and FBI as a Federal Task Force Officer (TFO).
In 2013, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the Criminal Investigation Bureau - Violent Crimes Division and later, the Robbery Task Force. In 2019, Captain Glidewell, was assigned to District 6 day as the day shift Lieutenant.
In September of 2021, Captain Glidewell as promoted to Captain and took over command of District 3.
Captain Glidewell is a proud resident of the City of Milwaukee. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (UWP) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. In December of 2021, he is set to receive his Masters of Arts degree in Applied Professional Studies with a concentration in Public Policy & Leadership from UWP. Captain Glidewell graduated from Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command in June of 2019, where he served as the class president.
