Captain Christopher A. Moews ,CPM
Captain Christopher A. Moews, CPM was born and raised in the Milwaukee area and graduated from Marquette University High School in 1990. Soon after, he entered the Saint Francis Seminary College Program to discern a vocation to the Catholic Priesthood. After two years, he left the seminary to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a career in law enforcement. In 1994, Captain Moews began his law enforcement career with the Fox Point Police Department while completing his degree. In 1995, Captain Moews graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
Captain Moews began his career with the Milwaukee Police Department in 1996. Upon graduating from the Police Academy, he received the Police Chief’s Exemplary Leadership Award and was assigned to patrol duties in the Fifth District. In 2001, he was promoted to the rank of Detective and effectively completed investigative assignments in the Narcotics Division, Property Crimes Division, Robbery Division, and Sensitive Crimes Division. In 2009, Captain Moews earned a promotion to the rank of Lieutenant. As a lieutenant, he was assigned Shift Commander responsibilities within the Criminal Investigation Bureau, Patrol Bureau, and Administration Bureau. Within the Criminal Investigation Bureau, Captain Moews supervised shift operations within the Homicide Division, Violent Crimes Division, Robbery Division, Property Crimes Division, and Intelligence Fusion Division. In the Patrol Bureau, he was assigned to the Seventh District and served as the Executive Officer and Dayshift Shift Commander. While assigned to the Administration Bureau, Captain Moews supervised and lead the daily operations of the Internal Affairs Division Special Investigations Section. He also served as the Commander of the Central Booking & Court Administration Section. In July 2021, he was appointed as Acting Captain of the Fusion Division by Chief Norman. In September 2021, he earned a formal promotion to the rank of Captain of Police and was assigned to the Executive Command where he served as the Night Watch Commander. In February of 2022, he was assigned as the commander for the Violent Crimes Division.
During his tenure with the Milwaukee Police Department Captain Moews has received numerous awards, letters of commendation, and meritorious arrests. He is a state certified police instructor in Unified Tactics and has served as an adjunct instructor at the Training Bureau. Captain Moews has also participated as a member of the Police Chief’s Use of Force Review Committee and the Police Officer Support Team. Currently he is the Deputy Commander of the Department’s Major Incident Response Team.
Captain Moews has completed management training through the Northwestern Center for Public Safety (Supervision of Police Personnel), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (Leadership in Police Organizations), the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (Supervisor Leadership Institute, Command Leadership Institute, and Executive Leadership Institute), and the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Command College.
Captain Moews resides in the City of Milwaukee with his wife and two sons. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and volunteering.
