In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the DPW Contract Office remains closed to the public until further notice. This office will continue to post regular updates regarding bid opportunities and bid results on the DPW Bidding Home page.
Bidding on a DPW Project?
NO PAPER SUBMITTALS WILL BE ACCEPTED. DO NOT MAIL OR FAX BID DOCUMENTS.
Bidders are strongly encouraged to utilize online bidding opportunities via BidExpress.com. If a bidder cannot submit an electronic bid, bids will also be accepted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com no later than 10:30 am on the day of the bid opening. Bid documents cannot be submitted via mail or in-person at this time. Bidders may request attendance at bid openings via conference call. Please contact Reggie Martinka firstname.lastname@example.org or Celeste Jantz email@example.com at least 24 hours in advance to set up a conference call for a scheduled bid opening.
Purchasing Plans for an advertised DPW project?
Plans will not be available for in-person purchase beginning March 16, 2020. As of March 25, 2020, plans are only available for download on the DPW Bidding Home page.
Applying for the Residents Preference Program (RPP)?
Certifications for the Residents Preference Program will not be available in-person beginning March 16, 2020, however, the Department of Public Works is providing certifications during this period. Notarized certificates and proofs of residence can be emailed to this office for review. Our staff will review these documents and will be in touch regarding your RPP status. REVISED March 25, 2020 DPW Contract Office – Updated Policies in response to COVID-19
* PRICE INCREASE FOR PLANS & PROJECT MANUALS EFFECTIVE 01/01/2020 *
Effective 01/01/2020, the price for all newly published DPW plans and project manuals will be increased from $10.00 to $20.00. This fee is non-refundable and can be paid in room 506, Frank P. Zeidler Municipal Building, 841 North Broadway, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53202.
A $10.00 per set additional non-refundable fee is required to obtain bid documents by mail. Plans are sent via U.S. mail unless other arrangements are made by the contractor.
The City of Milwaukee - Department of Public Works contracts department runs a dual bidding system allowing contractors to either bid using paper or using Bid Express. Please only bid through one system; either paper or electronic, not both. Either Electronic Bid Bonds or paper Bid Bonds can be used, but must be submitted prior to the scheduled bid opening.
