2014 Midwest Gun Violence Reduction Summit

Mayor Tom Barrett, Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges and other mayors and law officials from the Midwest are set to participate in the Midwest Gun Violence Reduction Summit. In total, around 50 mayors and law enforcement officials from Wisconsin, Minnesota and Chicago will discuss different perspectives on gun violence.
The summit will include a review of new models for crime gun investigations and other information on emerging firearms policies across the country. The presentations at the summit will include: Mayors’ Perspectives on Gun Violence, New Models for Crime Gun Investigations, Emerging Policy Issues on Gun Violence and others.
The summit is a follow up to a similar event held in Minneapolis in January of 2013. Participants of the 2013 event agreed to meet in Milwaukee this year.
Among the notable guests attending the summit with Mayor Barrett and Mayor Hodges are: Racine Mayor John Dickert, Oak Creek Mayor Steve Scaffidi, West Allis Mayor Dan Devine, Milwaukee Chief of Police Ed Flynn and Minneapolis Chief of Police Janee Harteau.
The Gun Violence Reduction Summit is being held at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center.
