Lead Abatement Assessments Against Non-compliant Property Owners

The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) is charged with certain responsibilities relating to the safety of children in their homes. To that end, MHD can order the removal of lead based paint hazards from a property. MHD may hire a certified Lead Abatement Contractor to remove all lead hazards from a property either with the voluntary consent of the property owner or by Court Order if the owner has not complied with orders to abate the lead hazards. This action is called "Direct Administration of Abatement."

Charges for this work constitute a lien against the property and ultimately can be placed on the property tax bill.

The property or properties listed below have had Direct Administration of Abatement of Lead Hazards performed by licensed contractors. Once placed on the tax roll, these charges will no longer appear on the Contemplated Special Charges list, but will appear directly on the property tax bill.

If you observe the same address with two different balances, this indicates that the Interior and Exterior Orders were abated and invoiced as two separate times.
