Department of Public Works
The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) received an Equity and Mobility Network Grant from People for Bikes Foundation to start Phase 2 of its Active Streets program on the Galena Active Street. Phase 2 consists of installing semi-permanent infrastructure on a few blocks of the Active Street to test out different types of traffic calming. Residents and community members will be able to provide feedback and the street design can be adjusted to quickly try out new configurations. This project will take place on W. Galena St. from N. 35th St. to N. 31st St.
DPW is partnering with United Methodist Children's Services (UMCS) on this project. UMCS will be leading community gatherings and collecting data. To get involved, contact Sharaka Berry, Community Organizer, at [email protected] or 414-509-1060.
