The Milwaukee Commission on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault
Created by the City of Milwaukee Common Council in 1979, the Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault provides Milwaukee with a multidisciplinary team of experts and community leaders that work together to increase safety for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and to hold perpetrators accountable and change their behavior.
Responsibilities
- The duties of the Commission include, but are not limited to:
- Review and development of policies and procedures to improve response to domestic violence and sexual assault
- Training in the areas of domestic violence and sexual assault
- Legislative advocacy to support victim safety and perpetrator accountability
- Community awareness and education aimed at the intervention and prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault
- Professionals in the fields of domestic violence and sexual assault are available for consultation, training, and presentations. Please contact the Commission Coordinator for more information.
Membership
The Commission convenes local agencies, institutions, and community members to coordinate Milwaukee's response to domestic violence and sexual assault. Appointed members of the Milwaukee Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault include representatives of:

- Milwaukee County District Attorney Office
- Wisconsin Department of Corrections
- Wisconsin State Legislature
- The Judiciary
