PUBLIC SERVICE (PSLF)
The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer. To learn more click here to be re-directed to the PSLF information page, a non-City website.
Questions regarding eligibility should be directed to the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid Office.
If you are a current City of Milwaukee employee (not MPS) and you have determined that you qualify, submit the Certification of Employment (page 2) in one of the following ways:
- Drop off or mail to:
Department of Employee Relations, ATTN: Certification Section, 200 E. Wells Street, Room 706, Milwaukee WI 53202-3515
- e-Mail: DERCertification@milwaukee.gov
- Fax: 286-0203 (include a cover page to the attention of the DER-Certification Section)
Staff from Employee Relations will complete and sign the Certification of Employment section of the form (page 2) and then return it to you. Please allow up to 5 business days. Attach a note and let us know if you will pick it up (leave a phone number or email address) or if you want the form sent to your home mailing address. (Employee Relations will not mail the form to the Agency.)
- Note: MPD and MFD employees, please submit the form to your Personnel office.
