Building Plan Requests and the Democratic National Convention
Please note that, due to increased concerns regarding security and public safety, from February 1, 2020 through the end of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on July 16, 2020, there may be a longer than normal wait time associated with the processing of public records requests from the City Records Center for records pertaining to certain buildings in the downtown area. Currently, this includes records pertaining to all buildings within an area bordered by:
- Cherry St. (north)
- Clybourn St. (south)
- 10th St. (west)
- Water St. (east)
The above area was identified on January 17, 2020, as the likely footprint of the DNC. However, be advised that the above borders are still subject to change. In the event that there is a change in the defined area, this Notice will be updated to reflect the change.
Although the wait time associating with processing public records requests for records pertaining to buildings in the above-identified area has increased, note that customers will still receive access to requested records, or copies of requested records, as soon as practicable and without delay.
Per the requirements of the Milwaukee Secure Structures Ordinance (MCO 311), requesters must still provide a letter of permission from the property owner if a structure is otherwise deemed secure.
Thank you for your patience. Expedited/normal access to records pertaining to buildings affected by this notice will be restored after the conclusion of the DNC.
