LRB Library and HPC Offices Relocated for Construction

While they will remain open for business during the transition, the Legislative Reference Bureau (LRB) Library and the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) offices will be relocated to the southern end of the City Hall basement as part of an ongoing foundation construction project. The expected duration of this relocation is 18 months.

The LRB Library will be moved to Room B-1 near the basement elevators on Monday, December 21st. The HPC will be moved to the same area the following week on Monday, January 4th. The library and HPC services will remain available to staff and the public during this transition.

Members of the public may access the LRB library and HPC office by ringing a doorbell for entry. Staff members will be present to buzz visitors into the area.

Construction is set to begin early next year in order to stabilize the foundation, which has been gradually sinking since 1986. In fact, certain areas of the building have recessed more than 2 inches into the ground. The project is a much-needed improvement to the 120-year old building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
