Nikki Purvis is Director of the Office of Small Business Development. In this role, she provides strategic direction and oversight for the City’s business inclusion program which promotes economic development for small disadvantaged businesses, as well as, the workforce development program that connects city residents to employment opportunities on certain city-funded private development projects.
Ms. Purvis’ experience in the public and private sectors has been essential in shaping her moral character and approach to leadership. She is a native Milwaukeean and received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Marquette University, her Masters of Science in Business Management from Cardinal Stritch University and most recently participated in the African American Leadership Program.
She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Commissioners for the Social Development Commission, is on the Board of Directors for the Urban Economic Development Association, and is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
Angelique M. Pettigrew, Contract Compliance Officer for the City of Milwaukee Office of Small Business Development, oversees compliance activities for the Small Business Enterprise (SBE) and Residents Preference (RPP) Programs for city funded private development projects. She also provides administrative support to the Business Capacity Building Program.
Ms. Pettigrew previously worked for the City as a Purchasing Agent from 2010 to 2017, and Paralegal from 2001 to 2010. She is a native Milwaukeean and graduated from Alverno College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and two Master’s Degrees from Marquette University in Public Administration and Dispute Resolution.
Dontreal Teague is a Business Analyst, Sr. with the Office of Small Business Development. Dontreal is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in Urban Geography & Planning. With a half decade of experience working with Small Businesses, he is ready to assist with your business needs.
James Methu is a Business Analyst, Sr. with the City of Milwaukee’s Office of Small Business Development and lifelong Milwaukee resident. He is a children’s book author and public servant. He is also an entrepreneur with urban business development experience.
His recent accomplishments include a property management firm that operates and manages over $1 million in real estate and helping establish a local trucking school dedicated to creating pathways to family supporting jobs on Milwaukee’s north side.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration, securities investment training, as well as continuing professional studies in Contract Compliance. He is also a graduate of the Associates in Commercial Real Estate program (MSOE & Marquette University). His hobbies include audiobooks, listening to music, working out and sleep.
