Restaurant and Bar COVID-19 Safety Guidance

As of June 1, 2021, all capacity and gathering size limits are removed within the City of Milwaukee. While restaurants and bars can operate at 100% capacity without an approved safety plan, the Restaurant and Bar COVID-19 Risk Assessment Tool continues to provide guidance for best safety practices.

The purpose of this tool is to assist restaurant and bar owners with ideas and recommendations to continue to ensure the safety of staff and guests within their establishments. The Milwaukee Health Department continues to be available as a resource to help venues and events with individual safety policies by emailing CEHadmin@milwaukee.gov.

*Please note: Restaurants and bars do not need to submit a safety plan or risk assessment tool to the Milwaukee Health Department to operate their business.

Complaint/Enforcement Process:

With the expiration of the Moving Milwaukee Forward Health Order, the Milwaukee Health Department will no longer be enforcing safety polices, such as mask wearing and capacity limits. Each individual establishment has the ability to set their own safety protocols as they see fit for their staff and guests. The Milwaukee Health Department asks the public to respect and abide by all individual policies as set by the business.
