| The Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial is located outside of the Milwaukee Fire Department Administration Building, 711 West Wells Street. |
For over 115 years Milwaukee Fire Fighters have protected the lives and property of the citizens of the City of Milwaukee. During this time over 106 members have given their lives in the line of duty. Placed outside of MFD headquarters at 7th and Wells Streets, the monument will forever show our appreciation for their sacrifice and courage.
The central focus of the monument is a sculpture, produced by a renowned fire artist Robert Daus. The statue depicts a helmet, coat and boots, arranged for the funeral procession of a fallen fire fighter, and sits on top of a black granite pedestal with the names of the 106 Milwaukee fire fighters who have died in the line of duty. This is the traditional final tribute given to those who sacrifice their lives for the community. It not only symbolizes the missing fire fighter, but also the loss felt by family, friends and fellow fire fighters.
