Richard W. Moore, P.E. was appointed Police Facilities Manager in January 2011. He is responsible for a division that includes Facility Services, Fleet Services and Printing and Stores. In January 2009 he retired from the Milwaukee Public Schools and spent the following two years remodeling houses before deciding to return to full-time employment. During his 22-year tenure with the Milwaukee Public Schools, he served as the Director of Facilities and Maintenance Services. In this capacity he was directly responsible for all facility planning, building maintenance, school design and renovations, repairs, new construction, environmental services and plant operations of over 200 facilities totaling 18 million square feet of building space. His responsibilities also included the development and management of the districts capital improvement program, real estate acquisitions and dispositions along with energy management activities. His Division had over 1200 employees and a total budget responsibility of over $100 million. Prior to joining the Milwaukee Public Schools, he worked for over 10 years for the City of Milwaukee in the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Bridges and Public Buildings. During his tenure he held various positions including Structural Design Engineer, Assistant Bridges Management Engineer and Building Management Engineer. During his career he has served as an advisor on the State of Wisconsin’s Energy Initiative Committee as well as serving on the editorial advisory boards of various publications. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan and is a licensed engineer in the State of Wisconsin.
