Captain Kristen Riestra
Captain Kristin Riestra started her career with the Milwaukee Police Department in 1995. As a Police Officer, she worked at District Two, Street Crimes Unit, Sensitive Crimes Division and District Six. She was promoted to Sergeant in 2001 and was assigned to District Seven, Internal Affairs Division, and the Office of Management, Analysis and Planning. In March 2014, she was promoted to Lieutenant and was tasked with the development of the Inspections Division. She was instrumental in the Milwaukee Police Department obtaining the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditations Group (WILEAG) accreditation.
In May of 2017, she was promoted to Captain and assigned as the commander of the Internal Affairs Division where her responsibilities included overseeing investigations into allegations of misconduct against police personnel. She is currently the commander of District Six, where she is dedicated to getting involved in improvement programs that work toward the safety and growth of Milwaukee as a community.
Captain Riestra holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Communications and Political Science from The University of Wisconsin- Parkside. She is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, Class 390, where she received the Franklin Kremel Leadership Award.
