Building Safety Month is a public awareness campaign held annually in May to help citizens understand what it takes to create and sustain safe structures. The theme for 2022 is Building Codes in Action. Founded by the International Code Council, this campaign is celebrated by jurisdictions worldwide because they understand the need for safe and sustainable structures where we live, work and play.

As part of its participation, the City of Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services will offer safety tips on Twitter & Facebook @milwaukeeDNS, and provide additional outreach opportunities to the community during the month of May (see schedule below and check back often for updates).
Residents are encouraged to participate in local events to learn more about safety, services and programs provided by the department.

In 2022 The Department of Neighborhood Services (DNS) launched a HomeSAFE series. An educational program designed to inform and empower the public on building code and neighborhood issues. Through a combination of in-person and live digital educational presentations, and an online resource library, the Department strives to bring helpful information to Milwaukee’s citizens to keep them safe, healthy and happy.
