COVID Response Paid Positions - City of Milwaukee Health Department

The City of Milwaukee continues to have opportunities to help support the COVID work in our communities. We have several paid positions available for a 90 day commitment. We are prioritizing placements in these temporary positions based on experience, interest, needed skills (e.g. Spanish speaking) and availability. Remote positions will require training (remote) during normal business hours. Calls are made Monday through Sunday 8 am to 7 p.m. 20 hour week minimum commitment. Shifts will be assigned accordingly.

Contact Tracing

  • Case Investigators - Responsible for contacting positive COVID cases to advise of isolation and documenting contacts. Healthcare/public health experience preferred and a commitment of 20 hours a week with some weekend availability.
  • Contact Tracers - Responsible for contacting those who have had documented close contact with an individual who is COVID positive to advise of isolation or quarantine. Healthcare/public health experience preferred and a commitment of 20 hours a week with some weekend availability. Shifts are available for weekends only as well.




The City of Milwaukee Health Department launched an informational hotline in response to COVID-19. Community members can call to 2-1-1 and talk with a health department employees/volunteers to learn basic information related to COVID-19, inquire about test results and support needs. Hotline located in Milwaukee. Phones are staffed between 8 a.m. -7 p.m. Monday through Sunday; weekend hours until 5 p.m.

  • Hotline Supervisors (RN required)  - Operational oversite and triage staff needs, phone calls and issues that arise. Medical consultation as needed and administrative support to the team. This position will also need to triage and respond to calls.
  • Hotline Customer Service - Responds to community members questions regarding test results and support needs. Triage next level of support or contact needed.
