Violence Prevention Month

"May is Violence Prevention Month" title graphic

Violence Prevention Month began as a resolution put forth and adopted on March 3rd, 2015 by City of Milwaukee Common Council members, and later signed by the mayor. This resolution designates each May from the year 2015 forward as Violence Prevention Month to promote non-violence in the city of Milwaukee.  It urges all city residents, neighborhoods, non-profit and faith-based organizations to join in the effort to reduce violence in the city.

"With an intentional and organized effort, we can engage in solution-focused strategies that promote peace in communities hit the hardest by socio-economic factors that often lead to violence," President Ashanti Hamilton said.
