Enjoy the many activities happening all around our neighborhoods because as the leaves continue to drop we get closer to winter. Now is the perfect time start winterizing your home and implementing some energy-saving improvements. Making small changes like replacing older toilets, sealing air leaks, replacing old windows or adding insulation can add up to big savings. You might be able to qualify for free help for winterization services from SDC, contact them for more information.

The Hop 

The Hop, Milwaukee's new streetcar will begin service to the public on Friday, November 2nd! Take part in the grand opening celebration at noon in Cathedral Square Park. The Hop service will be free for the first year. Visit their website to learn about #HopSmart tips!

Fall Leaf Collection

Milwaukee residents may rake their leaves into the curb lanes from October 1st to November 15th for pick-up by the Department of Public Works (DPW). Leaves and brush, along with other yard waste, are banned from landfills and must not be placed in garbage or recycling carts. 


Milwaukee Open Data Portal

The City of Milwaukee has a new Open Data Portal! Open Data is the idea that government data should be made available to use, reuse and redistribute in an easy to use format and without barriers. We currently have 68 data-sets available to explore! This portal will prove to be a tremendous resource to anyone curious about city data. 

FREE Water Filter 

Do you need a drinking water filter? If your home has a lead service line you can get a discounted water filter at You may be able to qualify for a free water filter if you live in the City of Milwaukee and cannot afford a filter. Landlord Training

Attend the next Department of Neighborhood Services FREE 5- hour training seminar and receive a 100-page manual and certificate of completion.

Trick or Treat Street

Layton Boulevard West Neighbors is hosting their annual Trick of Treat Street on Saturday, October 20th from 12 - 2pm. Ghouls and boys take over National Avenue between 32nd & 39th St for one scary afternoon of Trick-or-Treating. This event includes a costume contest, bouncy house and other family friendly activities. Open and FREE to the public! Visit their website for more info.

Near West Side Partners Fall Festival of Fun 
Join the Near West Side Partners for their Fall Festival of Fun starting on October 25th for a Haunted Halls: Hospital Edition, movie night of Coco, and Trunk or Treat! Click the flyer above for more information.


The Hop Grand Hop-ening! 

Join in on The Hop's grand opening on Friday, November 2nd! The celebration will begin at noon in Cathedral Square Park. Make sure to hop on The Hop, service is free for the first year! 


Noche de Altares 

Join the students of Escuela Verde for their Noche de Altares, a day of the dead celebration and tradition on Friday, November 2nd from 6-9pm at 3628 W. Pierce St. There will be free food, storytelling, altars, live music, face painting + more!

MPD District 5 & Safe & Sound Open House 

On Saturday, November 10th join MPD District 5 and Safe & Sound from 5:30 - 8pm at 2920 N Vel R Phillips Ave to receive a free flu shot, get connected to community resources, enjoy kids' activities and receive donated winter items. 

Housing Resource Fair

All neighbors are invited to Ald. Coggs & Stampers Housing Resource Fair on Saturday, November 17th from 10am - 2pm at North Division High School located at 1011 W Center Street. Learn about how to purchase a home from the City, resources to fix your home, and more!



Breakfast with Santa
Join UMOS for a FREE breakfast with Santa on December 8th from 8 - 11:30am at South Division High School. Children and their parents enjoy a pancake breakfast, visit Santa Claus, and receive a holiday gift. For more information call 414-389-6002. 


Santa Rampage

The Wisconsin Bike Fed is hosting their annual Santa Rampage on Saturday, December 1st. Over 2,000 Santa's will take over the City on their bikes while stopping a several local businesses. To learn more and take part in this event visit the WI Bike Fed website.
