2024 Black History Month Program Graphic

The City of Milwaukee will once again be recognizing 29 Days of Black History in 2024. This year’s theme is Celebrating Community, Social, and Civil Justice, and the festivities will include highlighting influential figures on the City of Milwaukee website and the City Channel; a Black History Month Program at City Hall on Feb. 27; as well as a Black History Month Power Hour Networking event.

29 Days of Black History

February is Black History Month, and in many ways, that history is still being written today. Throughout this month, key Milwaukee Black History makers will be profiled on the City of Milwaukee website. The prominent online spot will give students and Milwaukeeans across the city a chance to learn about – and to honor – some of the city’s notable and unsung heroes.

Quilts reflect fabric of Black Culture & History

Quilts reflect the fabric of Black Culture & History

To commemorate Black History Month, quilt banners by local master quilter Ethel White are now on display in the rotunda of City Hall. Much of the award-winning art in White’s collection of more than 200 quilts depicts African and African-American history and culture. Her thought-provoking quilt banners will remain on display throughout the month of February.

The Department of City Development (DCD) kicked-off Growing MKE, a citywide planning effort that will set a framework for housing growth and choice in Milwaukee. The project will result in a proposed amendment to the Citywide Policy Plan and updates to the City’s Zoning Code.

Covid-19 Vaccine

2023-24 COVID-19 Vaccine   

MHD can provide 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine free of charge to eligible individuals including children (18 and younger) with Badgercare/Medicaid or uninsured, and adults (19 and older) who are uninsured.

For information on the vaccine or clinic locations and hours, visit milwaukee.gov/VaxClinics or vaccines.gov to find a location to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
