2017 Personal Property Return

In January 2017, businesses with personal property accounts will be sent a letter requesting the personal property return to be downloaded, completed and then signed and returned to the Assessor's Office.  The Assessor's office no longer mails a full copy of the personal property Return.

Instructions for completing the 2017 Wisconsin Statement of Personal Property form PA-003, can be found in three different formats via the links on the right. This form is to be filled out by all businesses per Wisconsin State Statute section 70.35 as follows:

  • The assessor shall require such person, firm or corporation to submit a return of all personal property and the taxable value thereof.  A Statement of Personal Property must be filed for each business location for those companies with multiple sites in the City of Milwaukee.
  • Each return shall be filed with the assessor on or before March 1st of the year in which the assessment provided by s 70.10 is made.  Returns received after March 1st are subject to doomage as well as not receiving the exempt computer benefit.
  • Failure to file: If you fail to file, the assessor must estimate the value of your property using the best information available. In addition, you shall be denied any right of abatement by the board of review, under Section 70.35 (4), Wis. Statutes. Personal Property includes furniture, fixtures, equipment, machinery, tools, signs, supplies, etc. used in your business.

The NAICS code is a required field on the 2017 form. NAICS codes can be found at: http://www.census.gov/eos/www/naics/

The completed and signed form is to be returned to our office on or before March 1, 2017. We are able to accept forms by email. Please email to personalproperty@milwaukee.gov.   If you are not able to access these forms, please contact the assessor’s office.
