Mayor Barrett Statement on Pabst City Project
Milwaukee-- Mayor Tom Barrett toured Pabst City today for a first hand look at the site on which developers will bring a mixture of entertainment, retail, office space and housing to the former brewery. "I'm excited about this project located in the gateway of downtown Milwaukee near the Interstate 43 and the Park East corridor. The Pabst City project will bring new life and jobs to the area and kick off an exciting string of new development for the City," stated Mayor Barrett. "We have a plan that will preserve more than half of the former brewery's square footage and maintain and highlight the signature buildings that are unique to the landscape and historic to the former brewery. While we must justify and review all components of the public financing that is requested, I'm confident we will have a plan that correctly balances our history and the need for new development downtown."
