2016 Guide to City of Milwaukee Bridge Operations

BRIDGE OPENINGS/CLOSURES

SUMMERFEST - Effective June 29-July 10, 2016
BIG BANG FIREWORKS - Effective June 29, 2016
INDEPENDENCE DAY FIREWORKS - Effective July 3, 2016


During Summerfest, the Broadway bridge (mile .79), the Water Street Bridge (mile .94), the St. Paul Avenue Bridge (mile 1.21), the Clybourn Avenue Bridge (mile 1.28), the Michigan Avenue Bridge (mile 1.37), and the Wisconsin Avenue Bridge (mile 1.48) - all over the Milwaukee River - will be subjected to "Temporary Bridge Opening Restrictions."

During the scheduled fireworks on Wednesday, June 29 (rain date June 30) and on Sunday, July 3, 2016 the above mentioned bridges will not open for any vessel between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 1:00 a.m., except at the discretion of the Milwaukee Police Department.

All remaining days of Summerfest - Thursday, June 30 through Saturday, July 2, and Tuesday, July 5, 2016 through Sunday, July 10, 2016 - the above mentioned bridges will not open for any recreational craft between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. each night, except at the discretion of the Milwaukee Police Department.

Any questions regarding these special bridge restrictions should be directed to the City of Milwaukee Infrastructure Services/Field Operations at 286-3450 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

FESTA ITALIANA - Effective July 22-24, 2016

During Festa Italiana, the Broadway bridge (mile .79) and the Water Street bridge (mile .94) - both over the Milwaukee River - will be subjected to "Temporary Bridge Opening Restrictions."

During the festival - Friday, July 22 through Sunday, July 24, 2016 - the above mentioned bridges will not open for amyrecreational craft between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight each night, except at the discretion of the Milwaukee Police Department.
