The Parking Fund is an enterprise fund administered by the Department of Public Works. It receives revenues from various parking activities, including parking enforcement, which finances the City's on- and off-street parking operations.
The Parking Fund's activities include owning and operating three City-owned parking structures. The City leases a fourth structure to a private company. In addition, DPW manages approximately 45 City-owned surface parking lots.
A staff of four manages more than 7,000 parking meters citywide. Parking meter staff is also responsible for hooding, installing and removing meters.
DPW also administers the overnight parking permit program. Permits are sold at all Police District Stations, three Violations Bureau locations and the City Tow Lot.
