Minimum requirements for these positions are set by the State of Wisconsin and by the Commission. Applicants must pass written, oral, and physical ability tests, a background investigation, medical examination, and drug screening to be placed on an Eligible List. Firefighters, Police Officers, and Police Aides are hired at intervals for training classes. The Board has a commitment to ensuring that the Public Safety workforce is representative of the Milwaukee community.
