City of Milwaukee joins President’s United We Serve initiative
City to help clean up 30th Street Industrial Corridor
The City of Milwaukee will partner with The 30th Street Industrial Corridor Corporation (The Corridor), the North Avenue Community Development Corporation, and the Corporation for National Service to organize the ‘Corridor Community Clean-Up’ in the 30th Street Industrial Corridor. By participating in this event, the City will be taking part in United We Serve, a national effort by President Barack Obama to engage more Americans in serving their communities this summer.
The Corridor Community Clean-Up will take place Thursday, Aug. 6th from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Next Door Foundation, 2545 North 29th Street. Residents are encouraged to join their neighbors and friends to help beautify the Corridor, learn about the area, and brainstorm ideas on how to keep the neighborhood clean and safe. The Next Door Foundation is holding a block party after the clean-up.
“This is an opportunity to bring the ‘Corridor’ neighborhood together for one common cause,” said Mayor Tom Barrett. “A strong neighborhood is one with engaged and pro-active residents who are willing to get their hands dirty to keep their neighborhood safe and clean.”
The event aligns with the community renewal focus area of the President’s program. The corridor is a major focus of City-led redevelopment activity.
