BILINGUAL SCHOOL SECRETARY I
THE DUTIES:
The Milwaukee Public Schools (Milwaukee Board of School Directors) employs Bilingual School Secretary I's in school and departmental offices throughout the City of Milwaukee. Under supervision, Bilingual School Secretary I's perform a wide variety of duties, which may be in English or Spanish, in such areas as enrollment, student records, student transportation, payroll, lunch program, field trips, supplies and the handling of cash. These duties require frequent contact and interaction with parents, students, and other school district staff.

THE REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of one year word processing or spreadsheet experience.
- NOTE: Computer software training may be considered in lieu of word processing/ spreadsheet experience.
- Residence in the City of Milwaukee at time of application and throughout employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Graduation from high school or successful completion of high school equivalency or G.E.D. tests is desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ablity to type at a minimum of 45 net words per minute.
- Fuency in reading, writing and speaking both English and Spanish languages.
THE CURRENT SALARY RANGE IS:
- $22,446 to $30,211 annually (10 MONTH)
- $27,063 to $36,378 annually (12 MONTH)
- (rate increase contingent upon contract negotiations)

THE SELECTION PROCESS will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral or performance tests; or other assessment methods. The Department of Employee Relations reserves the right to call only the most qualified candidates to oral and performance examinations. Oral examinations may include written exercises. Selection process component weight will be determined by further analysis of the job.
This is a continuous examination. Examinations will be given as often as necessary to meet the needs of Milwaukee Public Schools. All candidates will be notified of the date, time and place of the examination. Persons placed on an eligible list will remain on the list for 1 year ONLY. Persons not accepted to an examination or removed from an eligible list may file a written appeal (including the basis upon which the appeal is made) which must be received by the City Service Commission no later than ten calendar days after the rejection notice was mailed.
