Bridging the Information Gap (BIG) Website

The Bridging the Information Gap (BIG) website was created to provide individuals with useful community resource information in a convenient way by making it easier to access those resources independently. By giving people the tools to engage in their own online search it enables individuals to access e-services, manage benefits and to take full advantage of community resources.   

On the BIG site you will find the locations of Public Computer Centers (PCC) where anyone can take classes to learn basic computer and internet skills, access computers, including laptops, high-speed broadband internet and job resources- all for free! There are 9 PCC sites located throughout the City of Milwaukee where classes are offered. Click on "PCC Locations" at the top right hand side of this page for more information.

Project Highlights

240 brand new laptops were distributed to the six Milwaukee Public Library branch PCC's last fall for public use.  Come check-out a laptop at one of the library locations for free!  All you need is a Milwaukee Public Library card, also free!  Learn how to get a library card by clicking here.

Eight Kiosks were deployed to PCC sites throughout the city.  These stand alone computer stations offer community resource information on jobs, housing, healthcare and education.  Look for one at your local library branch, for more information and Kiosk locations click on "Kiosk Locations" at the upper right hand side of this page.

Over 6,000 indiviuals per week are accessing computers and computer trainings at the Public Computer Centers and receiving one-on-one assistance from trained Technology Specialists who staff the centers.
