These supportive housing developments are completed, under construction, or in the pre-development stage in Milwaukee.

  United House
Description: United House is an affordable supportive housing apartment building that opened in September 2008. Its 24 one-bedroom units are available to individuals experiencing mental illness. Supportive services at the building are provided by Social Rehabilitation and Residential Resources. The building includes a community kitchen, fitness center, lounge, classroom, library, and chapel.

Prairie Apartments
  Prairie Apartments
Description: Prairie Apartments opened in April, 2009. The project provides 24 new one-bedroom and studio apartments with private bath and kitchens. Other amenities include a fitness center, technology center, laundry facilities, and tenant storage. Rent subsidies are available for two-thirds of the units. Prairie Apartments serves individuals at risk of homelessness because of mental health or other conditions. Supportive services are provided to tenants by Guest House of Milwaukee.

Johnston Center Residences
  Johnston Center Residences
Description: The Johnston Center Residences development will create 91 studio units of permanent supportive housing, targeted for use by people who have been homeless or at high risk of homelessness. The project involves renovation of the former Johnston Community Health Center and construction of a new addition just north of the Johnston building. Hope House of Milwaukee will provide supportive services. The project received allocations of Low Income Housing Tax Credits in 2008 and 2009, and broke ground May 28, 2009. Opening is anticipated in summer 2010.

Washington Park Apartments
  Washington Park Apartments
Description: Washington Park Apartments has 24 three-bedroom units, including 10 units of permanent supportive housing for families in which a parent struggles with mental illness. The building provides an array of on-site services including day care, parenting classes, nutrition programs, a food pantry, and a family resource center. The building was occupied in December 2009.
