Beware of Scam Artists

Nov. 12, 2008 - Milwaukee Police are advising people to be on the alert for suspects who use a variety of scams to manipulate their way into homes. Recently an elderly man was the victim of a burglary on Milwaukee's southwest side when a suspect distracted him at his front door as another suspect entered his home and removed valuables. Residents are asked to keep doors locked and talk to visitors who are not personally known to them through a locked screen or storm door. We also want to advise people to lock their doors when they are outside doing yard work, as an open door is an opportunity for a thief. Anyone who see suspicious activity in their neighborhood should immediately contact police.
