What is LVP?

Life Ventures Partnership (LVP) is a collaborative public/private initiative created to promote the future vitality of Milwaukee’s regional economy by preparing young people to become life-long learners, skilled workers, and engaged citizens LVP fosters effective collaborations by serving as an intermediary between schools, youth-serving agencies, and the private sector; offering support for their youth workforce development efforts, helping ensure that the goals of all partners are met. LVP supports a broad range of school-, community-, and workplace-based programs to better prepare Milwaukee’s youth for college and career success. We are currently looking for new school- and community-partners for the 2013-2014 school year.

Why should my school or youth-serving agency get involved with LVP?

You’ve taken the time and effort to create a rich learning environment for your students but offering them the opportunity to gain insight into the “world-of-work” is something you can’t always do on your own. Inviting business professionals into your classroom or program will enrich your students’ educational experiences. LVP links your school or program into an expansive network of public and private sector partners that allows you to supplement your curriculum and expose your students to all the opportunities available to them.

Who coordinates LVP?

The Milwaukee Department of City Development convenes and facilitates partnerships between interested schools, youth-serving agencies, students, and businesses throughout the city and region.

How can I get involved?

Whether you’re looking for a business speaker to visit your classroom or after school program to explain their career, a job site visit for your students, participants for a career fair, or any other activity to help your students become college- and career-ready, LVP can connect you to the business community. Simply enter your opportunity into our Volunteer Opportunity Calendar or email to explain your needs.

Is there a fee associated with participation?

No. LVP seeks to build the capacity of schools and youth-serving agencies to prepare Milwaukee’s youth for college and career success by connecting you with partnership opportunities with the business community free of charge.

LVP seeks to expand and improve youth workforce development efforts in Milwaukee by sharing resources, facilitating and supporting collaborations between the public and private sectors, and advocating for youth workforce development partners in the community.

LVP’s vision is that the public and private sectors in Milwaukee will effectively and efficiently work together to provide the best college and career readiness programs to the city’s youth.
